Wax Donation
How we collect, sort and what goes in the red bins.
We sort every donation by colour and material, remove wick residues and clean the wax in small batches. This produces long-lasting candles and products like WachsCrush, whose proceeds fund social projects.

Paraffin, stearin, beeswax and blends are welcome – whether pillar candles, tea lights, scented candles, candles in glass jars or grave lights. The plastic shell and metal lid can stay on. We handle minor impurities in the workshop.
No. A light wipe is enough. Our team filters out soot, wick and fragrance residues during production to keep the recycled wax consistently high quality.
Yes, beeswax is particularly valuable. We process it separately to preserve its natural colour and subtle honey scent. This produces premium candles.

Our collection bins have a capacity of 240 litres – that fits quite a lot. If the bin happens to be full, please bring your wax next time. The bins are emptied at least every two weeks. For larger quantities over 50 kg, we recommend getting in touch with us beforehand so we can ensure a smooth drop-off at the collection point.

Yes, gladly! The plastic shell and metal lid can stay on – we sort everything in the workshop. We also accept grave lights in glass. Grave lights are one of our most important wax sources.

Yes, we actively encourage it! Churches in particular generate a lot of wax. We can provide larger collection bins with greater capacity for them. Pickup works exactly like at a regular collection point and is organised smoothly after coordinating the collection conditions. Get in touch via Contact.

In our workshop, every piece of wax is sorted by hand. Wick residues, metal holders and other foreign materials are removed and fed into the appropriate recycling stream. The cleaned wax then goes through a filtration process.

Collection Points & Locations
Everything about finding bins, shipping options and new locations.
Use the map under Collection Points with city or postcode filter. There you can see opening hours and whether a bin is currently full.

We don't currently offer shipping boxes. This is something we'd like to explore in the future, but it's not yet possible due to costs. If you don't have access to a collection point, you can send your wax by post to the address in our imprint.

Emptying usually takes place every 2–4 weeks. In the future, the pickup schedule will be optimised by an algorithm that suggests the ideal timing based on historical data for each collection point. On the map you can see the current fill level of each bin.
Yes, you can send wax to the address listed in our imprint. Unfortunately, we cannot cover shipping costs at this time. Generally, sending by post is only worthwhile from about 10 kg. As long as we continue expanding our collection network, we naturally don't want to exclude people who don't have direct access to a collection point.

Our collection points are marked with a distinctive red bin featuring the Wachswandel logo and brief instructions. On the location map you can also see a photo of each collection point.

The fill level of each bin is visible on our location map. If a bin is full, you can place your wax neatly next to it. Please make sure it's placed in an orderly way – location operators shouldn't be negatively affected by mess. If in doubt, please bring it back next time.

Products & Quality
How candle leftovers become candles, limited editions and WachsCrush.
We document every batch: origin of donations, filtration, mixing ratio and burn test. This allows colours and burning behaviour to be reproduced.
See also
WachsCrush are recycled wax pieces that you can use as scented candles, fire bowls or firelighters. We include instructions and take back any remaining leftovers.
For sponsors and events, we create limited series with custom sleeves or engravings. Write to us via Advertising Partners so we can plan capacity.

Burn time is approximately 4–8 hours depending on the product. The exact burn time is stated on each product. Recycled wax burns just as long as new wax, by the way.
Our standard candles made from paraffin and stearin are vegan. Beeswax candles naturally aren't – these are labelled accordingly.
Of course – that's a true circular economy! Simply bring your candle leftovers back to the nearest collection point. That way your wax keeps becoming new products.

Yes, we have a changing selection of scented candles with natural essential oils. Look out for our Limited Editions in the shop – they're especially popular and often sell out quickly.

We compare the CO₂ footprint of new paraffin wax (crude oil extraction, refining, transport) with the effort for recycling (collection, cleaning, reprocessing). Per kilogram of recycled wax, we save an average of about 2.5 kg CO₂. We publish the exact methodology in the annual impact report.
